With intentional malice....
How Black social justice activists work to subvert other minorities and enable abuse and injustice. The first of a series.
This is how racial justice activists operate, in four acts.
Act I
There was mob harassment of a Jewish owned restaurant and daycare center in Philadelphia done in the name of the Palestinian cause.
In waltzes Ernest Owens, winner of the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists 2023 Journalist of the Year Award. This was the same man who demanded Shaun King be cancelled for everything BUT his antisemitism. He responded to the incidents of antisemitism involving Kyrie Irving and Kayne West by posting a link to an article he wrote during the last outbreak of Black anti-Semitism several years before. The article was mostly criticism about Israel mixed in with blaming Jewish self absorption for black antisemitism, and the indifference to it from the black community.
Yesterday writes an article in the Philadelphia Eater on this latest incident. The article is chock full of excuses and provably false claims made by random people online against the owner. He announces on twitter:
ACT II
It is picked up by Marc Lamont Hill and Briahna Joy Gray who use it as proof that the incident was not antisemetic.
So the claims made in the article are now taken as truth and shared by an academic and journalist with over 1 million combined followers.
ACT III
Then the co-chair of the National Association of Black Journalists and The Association of LGBTQ Journalists smells an opportunity:
Neither Owens or Redwood have a history of reporting on anti-Black racism with nuance or context.
ACT IV
The author leaves us with a claim of racial discrimination (without nuance or context). His summary suggests the restaurant deserved the abuse. He doesn’t indicate whether the Jewish day care center next door did also.
